Aura Felt
PET Felt Acoustic Panels
A premium architectural acoustic panel material made from recycled PET fibres. Available in 48 colours, three thicknesses, and fully customisable through CNC detailing for commercial acoustic solutions across South Africa.
The Material
What Are PET Felt Acoustic Panels?
Aura Felt is a dense, non-woven acoustic panel material manufactured from recycled PET plastic. The fibres are thermally bonded to create a durable, dimensionally stable sheet with a natural felt-like surface texture.
The material is low-VOC and fully recyclable at end of life. Its consistent density provides effective sound absorption while the pressed fibre surface accepts precise CNC machining for decorative patterns, grooves, and custom designs.

Panel Profiles
Panel Profiles
Aura Felt is manufactured in three standard thicknesses, each suited to different acoustic requirements and installation types.
Standard
Ideal for wall panels and decorative applications where space is at a premium. Provides meaningful acoustic improvement in most environments.
- Wall cladding
- Decorative panels
- Workstation dividers
- Baffles & blades
Enhanced
Our most versatile option, balancing acoustic performance with practical panel dimensions. Suitable for most commercial and educational projects.
- Feature walls
- Ceiling clouds
- Baffles & blades
- Classroom panels
Premium
Maximum material depth for demanding acoustic environments. The thicker profile allows for deeper CNC detailing and provides the highest level of sound absorption.
- Auditoriums
- Recording studios
- Baffles & blades
- High-performance ceilings
Material Properties
Material Structure
Aura Felt is a dense, non-woven acoustic material designed for architectural interiors. Its pressed fibre structure creates a clean felt surface that can be CNC-routed, grooved or cut into custom forms while remaining lightweight and easy to install.
Thicker panels are proportionally heavier. When specifying for ceiling applications, consider the 24mm profile's additional weight in your fixing and suspension calculations.

Customisation
Cuts, Grooves and Routed Surface Design
The dense, uniform structure of Aura Felt accepts precise CNC machining, enabling routed grooves, geometric patterns, and custom shapes that add visual depth while maintaining acoustic performance.
Routed Grooves
Linear and geometric groove patterns that create shadow lines and visual rhythm across panel surfaces.
Custom Shapes
Panels CNC-cut to any profile: circles, hexagons, organic curves, or brand-specific silhouettes.
Relief Patterns
Multi-depth routing that creates dimensional texture and tactile interest on the panel face.
Perforations
Controlled perforation patterns that can enhance high-frequency absorption while adding decorative detail.
Technical
Design-Led, Specification-Aware
Aura Felt panels are tested and certified for both acoustic absorption and fire safety. Performance varies by thickness, mounting method, and air gap.
Sound Absorption
Aura Felt provides broadband sound absorption across speech and mid-range frequencies. Thicker panels and increased air gaps behind the panel improve low-frequency performance. Specific NRC and absorption coefficient data is available on request for each thickness and mounting configuration.
Fire Rating
The material is inherently fire-resistant due to the thermoplastic properties of PET fibre. Aura Felt panels meet the requirements for use in commercial, educational, and public buildings. Contact us for the specific fire classification applicable to your region and building code.
Environmental
Manufactured from recycled PET plastic. The material is low-VOC, fully recyclable at end of life, and contributes to green building certifications including LEED and Green Star.
Durability
Aura Felt is moisture-resistant, dimensionally stable, and does not harbour mould or mildew. Panels maintain their shape and colour under normal interior conditions and are suitable for high-humidity environments such as bathrooms and pool areas.
